Hey y’all…happy Thursday!💋

Throwback Thursday is a meme where I can share some oldies but goodies…books that are older than a year and have been sitting on my Goodreads TBR for awhile or books that I’ve read & enjoyed, often from my READ AGAIN E-SHELF. I’ve seen this meme floating around for awhile now so I finally decided to jump on board. Thanks to Renee @ It’s Book Talk who started this meme…if you get a chance, go check out her blog!💜

He took me in when I had nowhere else to go. He doesn’t use me, hurt me, or forget about me. He listens to me, protects me, and sees me. I can feel his eyes on me over the breakfast table, and my heart pumps so hard when I hear him pull in the driveway after work.

I have to stop this. It can’t happen.

My sister once told me there are no good men, and if you find one, he’s probably unavailable. Only Pike Lawson isn’t the unavailable one.
I am.

PIKE

I took her in, because I thought I was helping. As the days go by, though, it’s becoming anything but easy. I have to stop my mind from drifting to her and stop holding my breath every time I bump into her in the house. I can’t touch her, and I shouldn’t want to.

But we’re not free to give into this. She’s nineteen, and I’m thirty-eight.

And her boyfriend’s father.

Unfortunately, they both just moved into my house.

My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Birthday Girl is a standalone. It’s an angsty, steamy, opposites attract story. Oh…and it’s completely taboo!

Jordan has been dating her best friend turned boyfriend, Cole, for awhile. However, when they get evicted because of Cole’s carelessness, they have no choice but to move in with Cole’s estranged dad, Pike Lawson. Pike loves his son and has no problem with Jordan and Cole moving in with him. But who knew that Jordan would turn out to be his dream girl?

Ok, I already warned you that this is a forbidden romance!
Yes, Jordan is the girlfriend of Pike’s son.
Yes, she’s a whole lot younger than him.
No, these things didn’t bother me because Penelope Douglas did a fab job of making this story more than just about erotic sex. It’s about that sweet connection you feel with another person. It’s about a father trying to find a place in his son’s life. It’s about a woman trying to find love and acceptance, something most of us yearn for. The book was written so well…I laughed a bit, cried a few tears and my heart cracked just a little for Pike and Jordan! (Not Cole, he was a dumb ass!) Who can say that ANY kind of love is wrong or right? That’s the important point that I took from this story.

I realize that many people don’t like to read these types of taboo books but this is one that I urge you to try. It’ll find a place on my READ AGAIN E-SHELF! Told from dual POVs with a delightfully happy ending. I voluntarily read and reviewed this book.
