My rating: 4 of 5 stars
Wild Love is book 3 in the Brewing Love series. It’s a standalone with interconnected characters.
Peaches Guidry is a chef/restaurant manager in a small Colorado town. She’s content to live the single life until Colin Brooks walks back into town. Colin abruptly left town 18 months prior, breaking friendships and pushing the local brewery to the verge of bankruptcy. He’s back to make amends but can Peaches trust him after his past betrayals?
I ended up rating this one 3.5 stars.
Here’s the good stuff: This is my first read from author Meg Benjamin. The writing itself was great, the story flowed well and I enjoyed learning about all the characters in the town of Antero. The plot caught my attention right away, I was stoked to find out more about “The bad boy with a heart of gold.” I mean, bad boys are my absolute favorite! And in a small way, Colin was a BB.
BUT…
And here’s where my disappointment comes in: while I appreciated each character individually, I felt no real connection between bad boy Colin and sweet Peaches. Plus, I really wanted MORE from Colin. I wanted him to stand up for himself more. I wanted him to be more dominate. I wanted him to be more decisive. And while Peaches was sweet and sassy (to an extent), she never quite found her backbone. I kept waiting for her to assert herself more!
Overall, I felt this was a good, easy read. There’s nothing horrible about it specifically, it was simply too tame for my personal taste! Still, I’m willing to give this series and this author another chance! Told from dual POVs with a delightfully happy ever after. I voluntarily read and reviewed this book.
