I can’t borrow him.
He’s not a sweater or a skirt.
He’s not even her favorite dress—the lucky one she wears on first dates. The one she probably wore on her first date with him.
In my defense, I didn’t know who he was. To me, he was a cool, calm, confident stranger. He was perfection for the entire hour and a half train ride while the concrete jungle turned into a rolling green landscape.
To an outsider, we probably appeared more friends than hopeful lovers. But my blush came quickly, and his dimples indented with every smile. We definitely shared a spark of what could be.

Too bad I didn’t know who he was before I fell for him, because he can’t be mine.

My Bestie's Ex (The Rooftop Crew #1)My Bestie’s Ex by Piper Rayne

My rating: 4 of 5 stars

My Bestie’s Ex is book one in The Rooftop Crew. I believe it’s a spin-off but it can be read as a standalone. It’s a sweet and sexy, easy drama.

Ethan and Blanca meet on a train and instantly feel a connection. But it’s not until they meet again at Blanca’s new job that things really heat up. Turns out…they have more in common than they first thought!

I’m not sure what it says about me but I thoroughly enjoy the “forbidden fruit” trope. It seemed like fate had brought these two together only to tear them apart when they find out that Ethan is the ex boyfriend of Blanca’s best friend and roomie. But despite the slight taboo element, Piper Rayne did a fabulous job of making this a lighter, sweeter read somehow. Ethan and Blanca were such an adorable couple! It’s clear early on that Eth-anca are perfectly matched and just like Ethan and Blanca, I felt an instant connection between not only them but all of the friends. I fell in love with each of the background characters and I’m hyped to get their stories!

My only wish was that Ethan wasn’t quite so unsure of himself and his feelings. I mean, I get the whole push and pull thing. Every love story has it to some degree but in this story, Ethan was a little TOO hesitant for my taste. I guess I just wanted a more assertive hero!

Overall, this was a super swexy story with interesting characters (think a “Friends” tv show vibe) and a small town feel. I can’t wait to follow along as this fun group of friends finds their happy ever after! Told from dual POVs with a happy ending. I voluntarily read and reviewed this book.
