Hey y’all…happy Thursday!💕 Valentine’s Day is over but I found a book that I read several years ago that fits into the holiday. Better late than never!😍
Throwback Thursday is a meme where I can share some oldies but goodies…books that are older than a year and have been sitting on my Goodreads TBR for awhile or books that I’ve read & enjoyed, often from my READ AGAIN E-SHELF. I’ve seen this meme floating around for awhile now so I finally decided to jump on board. Thanks to Renee @ It’s Book Talk who started this meme…if you get a chance, go check out her blog!💖
Eye Candy (Real Love #1) by Jessica Lemmon
Published July 25th 2017
Jacqueline: As an adult woman–and the vice president of a marketing firm–I shouldn’t be waiting by my office window to ogle the mystery man who jogs by every morning at 11:45. Sure, he’s a gorgeous, perfect specimen of the human race, but I can’t bring myself to hit on a total stranger. However, my best friend-slash-colleague Vince Carson thinks I should do more than talk to the guy. In fact, he’s borderline obsessive about “getting me laid.” (His words.) But the more time we spend together, the more it’s clear: The one I’m falling for is Vince.
Vince: Jackie Butler’s got it bad for some pompous, over-pumped A-hole who struts his stuff past her window. That doesn’t bother me. I know she deserves nice things. What does bother me is that she friend-zoned me big-time last year, so I can’t ask her out myself. But what if I set her up with Mr. Steroids? Then, when he breaks her heart, I can swoop in and save her like the nice guy I am. Everything’s going according to plan . . . until we share a ridiculously epic kiss. And suddenly anything is possible.
My rating: 5 of 5 stars
EYE CANDY is the first book in the Real Love series and my first time reading anything from Jessica Lemmon. I was pleasantly surprised to realize how much I loved this book! The writing was smooth and moved at a fast pace, the banter between Vince and Jackie was funny and cute and the sex was hot. This isn’t a drama filled opera but it is a story about learning how to trust your partner. It’s a friends to lovers/office romance/kind of second chance contemporary story with a romantic comedy vibe. I was a little frustrated with Vince in the beginning. I mean, jeez, just tell the woman how you feel, right?? But then I realized that blurting out your feelings isn’t all that easy and I understood where his logic was coming from. Otherwise, I adored Vince’s character. He was thoughtful, funny and sweet. Jackie was smart and sweet too in spite of her trust issues and lower self esteem. I felt like these characters absolutely belonged together from the very beginning! Overall, this one was a swoon worthy tale. Told from dual POVs with a sweet ending. I received, read and voluntarily reviewed an ARC of this book.
He indeed is a real eye candy Trisy!!!
