Hey y’all…happy Thursday!💖

Throwback Thursday is a meme where I can share some oldies but goodies…books that are older than a year and have been sitting on my Goodreads TBR for awhile or books that I’ve read & enjoyed, often from my READ AGAIN E-SHELF. I’ve seen this meme floating around for awhile now so I finally decided to jump on board. Thanks to Renee @ It’s Book Talk who started this meme…if you get a chance, go check out her blog!💖

Ox was twelve when his daddy taught him a very valuable lesson. He said that Ox wasn’t worth anything and people would never understand him. Then he left.

Ox was sixteen when he met the boy on the road. The little boy who talked and talked and talked. Ox found out later the little boy hadn’t spoken in almost two years before that day, and that the little boy belonged to a family who had moved into the house at the end of the lane.

Ox was seventeen when he found out the little boy’s secret and it painted the world around him in colors of red and orange and violet, of Alpha and Beta and Omega.

Ox was twenty-three when murder came to town and tore a hole in his head and heart. The boy chased after the monster with revenge in his bloodred eyes, leaving Ox behind to pick up the pieces.

It’s been three years since that fateful day—and the boy is back. Except now he’s a man, and Ox can no longer ignore the song that howls between them.

Wolfsong (Green Creek, #1)Wolfsong by T.J. Klune

My rating: 5 of 5 stars

WOLFSONG is the first book in the Green Creek series. This is a M/M paranormal standalone!

Oxnard “Ox” Matheson is a simple man with simple values. He knows he’s not the smartest, knows he’ll never be rich, and that’s ok with him. He just wants to take care of his mom and he’s satisfied with his quiet life in Green Creek. Then he meets the family down the lane, the Bennett family, including ten year old, Joe. They’ll change his life. This is Ox and Joe’s story.

I’m not gonna go on about the plot because honestly, all I have to say is…AH-FREAKING-MAZING! This book was recommended many times by an awesome blogger friend of mine and I’m so glad I finally read it! It’s been a while since a book got to me like this one did. Ox and Joe turned me inside out, broke me into pieces and then slowly pasted my heart and mind back together.

I’ve never read T.J. Klune before so it took me a few pages to get into his writing style. The story is told completely from Ox’s point of view and as I mentioned earlier, Ox is a simple man so the writing is simple, stark, blunt. Oh but, don’t let that fool you because it’s also incredibly complex! It’s so beautifully crafted that Ox was able to draw me into his world seamlessly, willingly. I breathed and lived in Green Creek while I read this book and how incredible is that?? Isn’t that every bibliophile’s dream?

This is a very slow burn, there’s really not many sexy scenes until closer to the end but unbelievably, I didn’t even miss it! And I’ll go on to say that this was probably one of the most romantic books I’ve ever read. Joe and Ox are soul mates, no doubt but their relationship isn’t effortless. It’s filled with complications and heartache. {Sigh..}

I realize this book was released in 2016 but since I read it this year, I’m adding it to my small “Best of 2019” pile! Told completely from Ox’s POV with a happy, sexy ending. I voluntarily read and reviewed this book.
