My rating: 5 of 5 starsBAD BOY BLUES is an enemies to lovers, new adult standalone.
Cleopatra Paige (aka Cleo or Blue) and Zach Prince have had a volatile relationship since childhood. Zach was Cleo’s bully for ten long years so Cleo couldn’t be more happy when Zach abruptly leaves town. Three years later, he’s back but circumstances have changed. Cleo is working for the Prince family and living on the estate. They’re not children anymore but Zach is still a bully.
There’s a thin line between love and hate and no one knows that better than Cleo and Zach. I became a fan of Saffron Kent when I read UNREQUITED and here’s why. I adore the unconventional characters that she creates. They’re so imperfect, flawed. You want to hate them but then when you get a glimpse inside their heads, understand the reasons for their behavior, all of a sudden, you love them! Watching a character grow, develop as a person, evolve…that’s The BEST.
Let’s talk about Cleo or Blue as Zach calls her. She’s an orphan, working at the Prince mansion so she can buy back her parent’s home. She’s not skinny, rich or particularly smart. But Blue is tough, secure in her own skin, loyal to her friends, brave. I admired how she embraced her flaws and even realized that she could be a bully too.
But Zach was my winner in this tale. Yes, technically, he’s an anti-hero, an ass most of the time, a definite bad boy, sexy as sin. Sigh…enough to make my heart go pitter patter. Throw in the fact that he had a heartbreaking past and a difficult disability and my heart was his for the taking!
More over, I adored how much Ms. Kent hammered home the importance of dealing with bullies. The need to break the cycle of bullying. This is definitely one for my READ AGAIN E-SHELF! Told from dual POVs with a delightful end. I voluntarily read and reviewed this book.
I love an enemies to lovers read..
