It feels like this is a make or break moment. If I take his hand, I’ll be following him toward something that I can never take back. This isn’t just some wild oat sowing. This isn’t some one-time experiment. I can see it in his hungry gaze, this is something he wants, something he will always want. I reach for him, my fingers touching his and I take one step toward him before my legs lock, refusing to move any farther. He frowns slightly, tugging me gently toward him, but I don’t budge, I can’t. I shake my head, almost violently.

“Esther,” Raff growls. “Don’t do this. I won’t do anything you won’t like,” he promises.

My eyes focus on his and I shake my head. “I love you, Raff.”

About the Author:

I was born and raised in a small farming town in California. I met my husband when I was 16 and he was 19. We married four years later and have two little boys! We lived in Oregon for a few years while he served in the US Coast Guard.

Texas is now where we call home, where our boots rest, and where we’re raising our two little boys and a chocolate lab named Optimus Prime.
