🌹Friday Faves! 5 First Rate Class Warfare Romance Books by Hettie Ivers, Nicole Edwards, Emma Scott, J.R. Ward & Maya Banks!🌹

Hey y’all…happy FRIDAY FAVES!

ICYMI: Friday Faves is a little meme where I can post about some of my favorite book related topics. I try to have a new theme every month and February’s theme is: ROMANTIC MOVIES!🎬

February is the month for LOVE!💘 But since I am a ROMANCE book blogger, I’m always posting about something from the romance genre. Sooo…let’s mix it up a bit! I took four of my favorite romantic movies and found some of my favorite books to fit in their plots. Make sense?

Pretty Woman is a 1990 American romantic comedy film directed by Garry Marshall, from a screenplay by J. F. Lawton. The film stars Richard Gere and Julia Roberts, and features Hector ElizondoRalph Bellamy (in his final performance), Laura San Giacomo, and Jason Alexander in supporting roles.[1] The film’s story centers on down-on-her-luck Hollywood sex worker Vivian Ward, who is hired by Edward Lewis, a wealthy businessman, to be his escort for several business and social functions, and their developing relationship over the course of her week-long stay with him.

So, CLASS WARFARE! What does this mean? Well, there’s several ways to look at this. In PRETTY WOMAN, Julia Roberts character, Vivian, is a down on her luck prostitute. Richard Gere, Edward, is a wealthy business man looking for a business like relationship for just one week. This reminds me of the iconic Cinderella fairytale. But there’s all kinds of “social classes” that our society is broken into, regardless of all the strides we’ve made to eradicate social division. I won’t get into all the political aspects because that’s not what this post is about!😘

Oxford Dictionaries defines SOCIAL CLASS as:

a division of a society based on social and economic status.

Let’s start with the obvious. Different species!

Slip of Fate (Werelock Evolution #1) by Hettie Ivers

I was supposed to find my brother in South America and bring him home.

I wasn’t supposed to get kidnapped in the process… or unearth an ancient blood curse coveted by two of the world’s most powerful, dangerous werewolf packs.

I definitely wasn’t supposed to develop any feelings other than hate for my brother’s enemy: the ruthless—and beyond obnoxious—Alpha werelock holding me hostage.

In a kinder world, I might’ve stumbled upon a classic werewolf mate-for-life alternate universe and encountered the stuff of romantic fairy tales.

Trust me—this isn’t that world.

CONTENT: This 74k word novel is PART OF A SERIES AND CONTAINS A CLIFFHANGER ENDING. This book contains violence, strong language, reference to sexual situations, and is intended for adult readers. If you don’t enjoy satire or dark humor, preposterous paranormal circumstances, over-the-top alpha males, or teenage girls acting out, then you should probably skip this series.

Reckless (Pier 70 #1) by Nicole Edwards

He’s a walking contradiction…
Cam Strickland, one of the four owners of Pier 70 Marina, has earned the nickname his friends gave him years ago. Reckless. Sure. By definition. When it comes to fun, Cam hasn’t yet met a challenge he wouldn’t accept. In other areas, he’s likely far too cautious for his own good.

He’s his complete opposite…
Gannon Burgess, CEO of Burgess Entertainment, one of the top video game producers in the world, finds himself smack in the middle of the last place he would ever expect to be. But Gannon only thinks he is out of his element standing in the small marina office. Then… he meets Cam.

Rumor is opposites attract.
Sparks fly when this sexy, tattooed bad boy comes face to face with this buttoned-up gamer in glasses.

Can Cam and Gannon push one another out of their comfort zones? Or — thanks to the events that have shaped their lives — will the time they spend together prove to be just another reckless adventure? This one involving their hearts.

Forever Right Now by Emma Scott

Darlene Montgomery has been to hell and back…more than once. After a stint in jail for drug possession, she is finally clean and ready to start over. Yet another failed relationship is just the motivation she needs to move from New York to San Francisco with the hopes of resurrecting her dance career and discovering that she is more than the sum of her rap sheet. As Darlene struggles in her new city, the last thing she wants is to become entangled with her handsome—but cranky—neighbor and his adorable little girl…

Sawyer Haas is weeks away from finishing law school, but exhaustion, dwindling finances, and the pressure to provide for himself and his daughter, Olivia, are wearing him down. A federal clerkship–a job he desperately needs–awaits him after graduation, but only if he passes the Bar Exam. Sawyer doesn’t have the time or patience for the capricious—if beautiful—dancer who moves into the apartment above his. But Darlene’s easy laugh and cheerful spirit seep into the cracks of his hardened heart, and slowly break down the walls he’s resurrected to keep from being betrayed ever again.

When the parents of Olivia’s absentee mother come to fight for custody, Sawyer could lose everything. To have any chance at happiness, he must trust Darlene, the woman who has somehow found her way past his brittle barbs, and Darlene must decide how much of her own bruised heart she is willing to give to Sawyer and Olivia, especially when the ghosts of her troubled past refuse to stay buried.

Blood Kiss (Black Dagger Legacy #1) by J.R. Ward

The legacy of the Black Dagger Brotherhood continues in a spin-off series from the #1 New York Timesbestselling author…

Paradise, blooded daughter of the king’s First Advisor, is ready to break free from the restrictive life of an aristocratic female. Her strategy? Join the Black Dagger Brotherhood’s training center program and learn to fight for herself, think for herself…be herself. It’s a good plan, until everything goes wrong. The schooling is unfathomably difficult, the other recruits feel more like enemies than allies, and it’s very clear that the Brother in charge, Butch O’Neal, a.k.a. the Dhestroyer, is having serious problems in his own life.

And that’s before she falls in love with a fellow classmate. Craeg, a common civilian, is nothing her father would ever want for her, but everything she could ask for in a male. As an act of violence threatens to tear apart the entire program, and the erotic pull between them grows irresistible, Paradise is tested in ways she never anticipated—and left wondering whether she’s strong enough to claim her own power…on the field, and off.
