The White House Duet
Mr. President and Commander in Chief
by Katy Evans
From New York Times and USA Today bestselling author Katy Evans comes a sizzling new contemporary romance.
He’s won the hearts of millions. But is he willing to lose his?
I met the president’s son when we were both young. Matthew Hamilton was handsome, polished, and intelligent. I’d never met a guy like him.
He promised me that he’d never run for president. I promised that if he did, I’d be by his side.
Three terms later, an invitation to join Matthew Hamilton’s campaign is the most exhilarating opportunity I’ve ever experienced. I’m determined to make a difference; he is determined to win.
Focused on his goal, Matt is steadfast, ruthless, and disarming. All eyes are on him and his popularity is surging. But soon, the next possible president of the United States is possessing me in more ways than one—and despite the risks, I’m helpless to resist.
We’re stealing touches, stealing moments, and stealing away at night. But our chemical connection is quickly becoming dangerously combustive, putting not only my heart, but Matt’s chance at the presidency on the line.
Winning will take everything. Walking away will be the hardest thing of all.
The second installment of the White House Series, from New York Times and USA Today bestselling author Katy Evans.
We fell in love during the campaign.
The stakes were high.
Reputations could have been ruined.
Scandal hovered over us like a cloud.
Now the man I love is the President of the United States of America.
And its not my vote he is after.
He wants it all.
My heart. My body. My soul.
He wants me by his side.
In the White House.
Normalcy will be gone from my life, privacy forgotten.
I am only twenty three. I just wanted to play a part in history. But it seems like history wasn’t done with me. The part where I lost my heart to Matthew Hamilton? It was only the beginning…
My rating: 5 of 5 stars
MR. PRESIDENT is the first book in the White House duet. This is a political romance and it ends in a cliffhanger!
Matthew Hamilton is a man who’s spent his entire life in politics. His father was a former president, who was assassinated during his second term of office. Matt knows how hard it is to be the head of state but he’s determined to get into the White House, to make a change in his country. Charlotte Wells is the daughter of a senator and met a younger Matt when she was still a child. She harbored a crush for him for many years but she also believed with all her heart that Matt Hamilton would be a fabulous president. Joining his campaign was supposed to be simple, just a way to support Matt but when he meets Charlotte again, it’s obvious that nothing will be simple between them.
Let me begin by saying that I don’t really read political romances, its just a personal preference. But I enjoy reading books by Katy Evans and the blurb intrigued me enough to give this one a shot. I’m so glad I did because I loved so many things about this story! I was enthralled with the sense of forbidden-ness, the taboo feeling of an office romance. One of the things that endeared Matt to the public was the fact that he was a single, young, attractive candidate so him having a relationship with an office intern could have hurt his chances of becoming president (this sounds a little familiar 😏).
Matt was caught in a political spotlight but behind closed doors, he was sensual, wicked in a way that melted Charlotte’s panties and her heart. He was charming, smart, a strong hero that totally made me swoon! Charlotte also grew up sheltered by politics and the quest to be “perfect” in the public eye. She had this slight naiveté about her, a sweet innocence that drew Matt to her. Don’t get me wrong, she wasn’t a “woe is me” kind of girl, no she was strong in her beliefs, in her faith in Matt. Charlotte was smart and classy and I think she fit perfectly with him. There’s a slow build up between them, a touch here, a glance there so that when Matt and Charlotte finally come together, it’s explosive!
I found myself absolutely captivated with this book. There’s some easy drama, nothing too angsty but a whole lot of swexy romance! Told from dual POVs with a sad cliffhanger. I voluntarily read and reviewed this book.
My rating: 5 of 5 stars
COMMANDER IN CHIEF is the conclusion of the White House duet and must be read in order.
Matthew Hamilton has won the election, he’s now the President of the United States. But Charlotte, the woman he’d been having an illicit affair with while campaigning, has been gone for two months. They say absence makes the heart grow fonder and well…it seems they may be right.
Here’s a bit from my review of book 1:
“I was enthralled with the sense of forbidden-ness, the taboo feeling of an office romance.”
And while the very beginning has a bit of that forbidden-ness, the romance between Matt and Charlotte blossoms into something else altogether. This second part has more of a John F. Kennedy/Jackie Onassis kind of romance. You know: the young, hot, swoon worthy President and the stylish, sophisticated First Lady. They both still maintained the characteristics that I loved about them in the first book, buttoned up and elegant in public, downright wickedly sexy behind closed doors.
Admittedly, I’m not politically savvy but it was really interesting getting a glimpse into the inner workings of the White House, even if it was fictional. This book managed to bring out the patriotism in me…I want Matt Hamilton for President, LOL! Honestly, this book was more like an extended epilogue. Matt and Charlotte find their HEA relatively early in the story but it was still fun to read about their struggles in the political spotlight.
This book was a lighter read, without the taboo quality of book 1 but still swoony. It was 4 & 1/2 stars for me, rounded up because I loved the hero so much! Told from dual POVs with a happy ending. I voluntarily read and reviewed this book.
