Hey y’all…welcome to DAY 3 of BLOGMAS: BEST BOOKS OF 2018! The very awesome and wonderful blogger, Sophie, over at Beware of the Reader is hosting this challenge where I will attempt to post about the BEST OF THE BEST in contemporary romance every day this month…Go check out her blog, you won’t regret it!💕
Today’s post calls for a book that made me CRY MY EYES OUT! Ok, so I’ll admit to being a big ole baby sometimes. What can I say, I’m emotional (or hormonal?)! But there’s very few stories that will make me UGLY CRY. I did find one that some people hated and some people loved but I have to say that it was one of my favorite books this year!
When Cromwell leaves behind the gray skies of England to study music in the South Carolina heat, the last thing he expects is to see her again. And he certainly doesn’t expect that she’ll stay in his head like a song on repeat.
Bonnie Farraday lives for music. She lets every note into her heart, and she doesn’t understand how someone as talented as Cromwell can avoid doing the same. He’s hiding from his past, and she knows it. She tries to stay away from him, but something keeps calling her back.
Bonnie is the burst of color in Cromwell’s darkness. He’s the beat that makes her heart skip.
But when a shadow falls over Bonnie, it’s up to Cromwell to be her light, in the only way he knows how. He must help her find the lost song in her fragile heart. He must keep her strong with a symphony only he can compose.
A symphony of hope.
A symphony of love.
A symphony of them.
My rating: 5 of 5 stars
A WISH FOR US is a new adult standalone. This one goes on my READ AGAIN E-SHELF!
Cromwell Dean is an EDM DJ (electronic dance music). He arrives in South Carolina from England to study music with a huge chip on his shoulder. There, he meets Bonnie Farraday, the only girl to ever criticise him. They have nothing in common…except music.
Tillie Cole is a master at her craft. This book bought me back to the first time I read her work…the Sweet Home series. Not only is it well written but it’s characters are infused with vibrancy and spirit. Cromwell and Bonnie’s romance pulled so many emotions from me…sorrow and joy, hope and despair, passion and apathy. I loved the DETAIL in this book, it successfully made me feel how Cromwell and Bonnie felt and that’s hard to do. Yes, the storyline may have been a bit predictable and call me a big, fat fluffy marshmallow but I STILL cried through the last half of the book!
This is an enthralling tale of circumstance and consequence. The love between Bonnie and Cromwell wasn’t exactly insta-love but more like falling INTO love. It was about finding your soulmate, that once in a lifetime kind of love. In other words…SWOONY love!
At the request of Ms. Cole, I deliberately left a lot of the plot out if my review and focused more on how the book made me feel. I will say that although the story touches on some tough issues, this is a lighter read than some of her other books. Told from dual POVs with a happy ever after. I voluntarily read and reviewed this book.
Did you read this one? How’d you feel about it? Have a fabulous day y’all!😍
