Marek: A Cold Fury Hockey Novel
Release Date: May 22, 2018
Marek Fabritis is used to delivering blows, not receiving them. But when he gets tipped off by an anonymous email about his ex-girlfriend, the news leaves him ice cold—and it’s not because Gracen Moore is getting married to a total jerk. It’s the fact that Marek has a three-year-old daughter he never knew about. Now he’s going back home, not to play knight in shining armor but to make damn sure that no man takes what’s his. For the first time, there might be something more important than hockey.
Gracen Moore has always loved Marek. That’s why she let him go, so he could pursue a career in the NHL. And that’s why she never told him about Lilly. Only now does Gracen realize that she made an unforgivable mistake. But is that any reason for Marek to crash her wedding and make an epic scene? If the spark that still smolders between them is to be trusted, maybe. Still, Gracen’s not getting her hopes up. Because she knows better than anyone that appearances aren’t always what they seem. . . .
My rating: 4 of 5 stars
MAREK is book 11 in the Cold Fury Hockey series (yes, ELEVEN!!). There’s some recurring characters but this story can still stand alone.
Marek is a hot hockey player who’s just learned that he’s a father to a sweet three year old named Lilly. Marek broke up with his high school sweetie, Gracen, when he made it big in the NHL and before Gracen learned of her pregnancy. Four years later, Marek has taken Gracen and Lilly into his home so he can learn how to be a father for Lilly. But there’s still chemistry between Gracen and Marek. Can they overcome their past in order to be the parents that Lilly needs?
I’ll start with Gracen first: I loved her. Yeah, I realize it wasn’t cool to keep Lilly from her dad but at the same time, I understand how she felt. She was “abandoned” by the love of her life, the guy she thought she could always rely on. I totally admired her strength as a single mom, the tenacity it took to finish nursing school and her ability to own up to her mistakes.
Marek on the other hand…let’s just say he had a lot of growing up to do! I mean, geez, he was madly in love with Gracen for five years but broke it off with her so he could «ahem» ENJOY all the benefits of being a pro hockey player?? And then he’s pissed because Gracen kept Lilly a secret? (<-Ok, I understand him being upset about that!) Basically, they both made some serious mistakes. They both had to make some major apologies. I just felt like it took Marek a REALLY long time to forgive Gracen, LOL!
Overall, this one was a slow burning but hot as hell second chance romance. I loved watching Marek mature and grow and learn to forgive past mistakes! Told from dual POVs with a super sweet ending. I voluntarily read and reviewed this book.
