About Innocent Target:
From USA Today bestselling author Katie Reus comes the next story in the explosive Redemption Harbor series where sparks fly and so do bullets…
He wasn’t supposed to fall for her…
She was a target. A contract that came across his desk by mistake. Axel was simply going to warn her that she was in danger and get out. Then he got a taste of her and fell hard. But they’re from two different worlds. Not only is she innocent, she’s out of his league. He should keep his distance, but he can’t. Not when someone wants her dead. Now he’s driven to protect her, to keep her safe.
What happens when she discovers who he really is?
Hadley moved to Redemption Harbor for vet school and to be closer to her new family. Now that her billionaire father knows about her existence, her life has changed drastically. She just never imagined that she might be targeted because of her family. And she definitely never imagined she would fall for the one man she should never want. A man who kills for a living. A man who’s obsessed with her. A man who will do anything to protect her from the danger lurking in the shadows.

Hi, Katie! Thanks so much for agreeing to this interview! I’d like to begin by getting to know you a bit more.
1) CAN YOU TELL US A FUN FACT ABOUT YOURSELF THAT’S NOT IN YOUR BIO?
I have a wonderful six-year old who keeps me on my toes, and I’m obsessed with dragons and coffee. Lots and lots of coffee. I don’t start writing without my caffeine.
2) WHICH “FRIENDS” CHARACTER BEST DESCRIBES YOU: RACHEL, MONICA, PHOEBE, JOEY, ROSS OR CHANDLER? WHY?
I think I have a mix of some of Monica and Phoebe’s qualities. The cleaning thing? Yeah, I’m definitely like Monica in that aspect. But unlike her, needing people to like her, not so much lol. I’m probably more like Phoebe in that respect, being more secure in my skin.
3) WHAT IS YOUR FAVORITE GENRE/TROPE TO READ? NAME TWO BOOKS ON YOUR KINDLE OR BOOKSHELF.
Oooh, tropes! I love secret babies and friends to lovers. Oh and when the hero falls for his best friend’s sister. If all three of these are combined? I’m in heaven! Two books on my kindle: The Thief by JR Ward & Wicked and Wild by Cynthia Eden.
4) DO YOU LISTEN TO MUSIC WHEN YOU WRITE? WHAT’S YOUR FAVORITE SONG OR ARTIST?
I don’t listen to anything while I write. And I don’t know that I have a favorite song either. That said, I’m in love with everything Shakira. She can do no wrong!
5) IF YOU HAD AN ENDLESS SUPPLY OF ANY 1 ITEM, WHAT WOULD IT BE? SHOES, BOOKS, CHOCOLATE ETC.
💙Now a few questions about your book!💙
6) WHAT WAS YOUR FAVORITE CHAPTER (OR PART) TO WRITE ABOUT? WHY?
My favorite part to write was when the h/h first get intimate. The scene itself surprised me while I was writing it. She takes charge, surprising herself and him. I don’t want to give away more than that so that’s all I’ll say. But it was very important for both characters.
7) WHAT DO YOU FEEL IS MORE IMPORTANT ABOUT INNOCENT TARGET: THE CHARACTERS OR THE PLOT?
Ha, I’m going to have to go with both. It’s romantic suspense so both are VERY important. But if I had to choose, the characters are always going to win.
8) WHO WOULD PLAY AXEL AND HADLEY IN A MOVIE? DID YOU BUILD YOUR CHARACTERS AROUND ANY ONE PERSON (FAMOUS OR NOT)?
Noooo. I’m terrible at answering this question lol. I’m lucky if I can recognize famous people! So that answers your other question. No, I didn’t build them around real people. They’re all in my head 😉
9) I LOVE THE COVER FOR INNOCENT TARGET! HOW IMPORTANT AND/OR RELEVANT IS THE COVER FOR YOU?
Thanks! I work with a great designer. Very important! The cover is the first thing readers see (usually) so it needs to snag them right away. For me, as a reader, covers matter as well. They convey the tone and genre of the book and what to expect so it needs to fit.
10) A LOT OF YOUR WORK IS WRITTEN AS A SERIES. DO YOU PREFER WRITING BOOKS IN A SERIES OR SINGLE TITLES AND WHY?
Definitely series. I love revisiting characters and my various worlds.
Thank you so much for answering my questions and congratulations on your new release!!
Thank you for having me!
