“Bromberg is a master at turning up the heat.”
—New York Times bestselling author Katy Evans
Worth the Risk, an all-new, sexy standalone about taking chances and finding love when it’s least expected, from New York Times bestselling author K. Bromberg, is LIVE!
This whole contest was supposed to be easy. I know, I know. Famous last words.
It’s a long story, but I messed up at work. Big time. To earn back the trust of my boss, I promised to save one of our magazines. Yep. That Hot Dad contest you’ve seen advertised all over the place was my idea. And if I’m successful, if I’m able to increase our online readership, then I get a shot at my dream job.
But the one thing I never expected to happen, happened: Contestant number ten, Grayson Malone. Hello, Mr. Difficult. And did I mention sexy as hell?
Unfortunately he knows me. The old me, anyway. And while we might be older now, I remind him of before. Of the woman who broke his heart, who hardened him, and who left him alone to raise the cutest little boy I’ve ever seen.
But I don’t want a relationship. And I definitely don’t fall for single dads with baggage. Even ones with chiseled abs and killer smiles.
But he got to me. They got to me. Him and his son and their messy, crazy life. But I got to him too. I see the stolen glances. I feel the walls he built start to crumble. I recognize that there’s an unexpected beauty to the chaos in his life.
And now that the contest is about to end, we’re left to decide whether the last six months were just fun or if what we have is worth risking it all?
My rating: 5 of 5 stars
WORTH THE RISK is book 3 of the Malone Brothers in the Everyday Heroes series but is a complete, slow burn standalone.
Grayson Malone is a medi-vac and single dad to eight year old Luke. He risks his life every day, flying a helicopter to rescue those in serious medical conditions. His mischievous brothers enter Gray into a Hot Dad contest where he’s reconnected with high school acquaintance, Sydney Thorton. Sydney is forced to leave her high class penthouse and return to her hometown in order to prove that she’s qualified to be editor of a magazine by being in charge of the contest.
Give me a moment to SWOON over Grayson first because geez…that man! What’s hotter than a single dad who adores his son? A single dad who adores his son, flies a helicopter and rescues people for a living! He was stubborn as hell but so sweet and charming too. My heart just broke for both him and Luke and the circumstances that caused Gray to wrap barbed wire around his heart.
When I first met Sydney, I honestly wasn’t sure that I’d like her, she seemed kind of spoiled and a tad uppity. But as the story unfolded, I ended up really rooting for her. I loved watching both Gray and Sydney learn about the important things in life. It was inspiring, heartening. The story gave me all the feels, I might have even shed a tear or two!
Overall, this book was one of those feel good stories that makes your heart flutter. There’s very little drama, just the ups and downs of falling in love! I’ll add this one to my READ AGAIN E-SHELF and go back to read about the other SWOONY Malone brothers! Told from dual POVs with a sweet ending. I received, read and voluntarily reviewed an ARC of this book.
