LYRIC is book one in the Rebel series and is a spin-off from the Redemption series but does standalone.

Elizabeth Borello or Libby, is the sister of a mob boss, Dare…a mob boss who’s tried to get him and Libby out of the mafia life. She’s been in love with Maxon James, bassist for a rock band, (isn’t that a great rock star name?) since they were teenagers. Their relationship has been on again/off again for years. Now they’re both ready for more. But there’s someone else out there who wants Libby too.

I’ll start with Maxon and say first that I LOVED him! Oh my goodness, talk about a man with the patience of a saint! He was sweet and supportive and honestly, he put up with a lot of cr@p from Libby. Not that Libby was mean, per say but because her family was mafia, there was SO. MANY. SECRETS! At one point, I just wanted to shake her! I was yelling in my head, “Talk to him!!” LOL! Yeah, Libby frustrated the hell out of me sometimes but in a good way. In a way that had me crying for her and Maxon!

The story is filled with suspense and tension but is utterly ROMANTIC! The love that Maxon and Libby had for each other was swoony but it could also be destructive. Molly McAdams did a great job of building up the mystery behind Libby’s “shadow”. It was both edgy and sexy.

This was my first read from Molly McAdams and although this a standalone, there were parts in the beginning that were a tad confusing because I was unfamiliar with all the characters from the previous series. It wasn’t enough to deter me from the story but it might be better to read Dare’s story first. And really, if this book is anything to go on, I imagine Dare’s tale was awesome! So yeah, I’ll definitely go back and read more! Told from dual POVs with a sweet, happy ending. I received, read and voluntarily reviewed an ARC of this book.
