Justice for Milena
Badge of Honor: Texas Heroes Book 10
Release Date March 13, 2018
Itâs been years since Milena Reinhardt has seen TJ âRockâ Rockwell. The last time, he was nearly a shell of a manâŠbut he was her manâŠand he tore her heart out of her chest. Circumstances unbeknownst to TJ have ensured Milenaâs never fully recovered.
TJ left his sniper days behindâfor the most partâwhen he left the Army and become a respected Texas Highway Patrolman. He also left behind Milena. Heâs convinced it was the right thing to do at the time, but that doesnât mean heâs ever forgotten the woman who loved him in his greatest time of needâŠor has stopped thinking of her since.
Neither thought theyâd see each other again, until a pedophileâs operation is taken down and the evil man sets his vengeful sights on Milena. This could be their second chance, even though TJ and Milena have enough secrets and trust issues to end any relationship before it starts. But when the bad guy closes in, theyâll have to set aside their fears and trust in each other, to save the one thing that means the world to them both.
** Justice for Milena is the 10th book in the Badge of Honor: Texas Heroes Series. Each book is a stand-alone, with no cliffhanger endings.
** TJ and Milena face a truly nasty foe. While his sins are never described on the page, certain basic information is included for the characters to grasp the full breadth of the villainâs evilness. For my more delicate readers, please rememberâŠgood always triumphs over evil.

Justice for Milena by Susan Stoker
My rating: 5 of 5 stars
JUSTICE FOR MILENA is book 10 in the Badge of Honor: Texas Heroes series and is a romantic suspense. It’s a standalone so no worries if you haven’t read a previous book. In fact, this was my first book by author Susan Stoker and I had no problems jumping right in!
Before I say anything else, I just want to give kudos to Ms. Stoker! This book takes place in my hometown and I loved how accurate she was! TJ is an ex-sniper and a Texas Highway Patrolman. His biggest regret was leaving Milena three years prior. Milena is a nurse working in a group home for young, pregnant girls. But there’s things going on in that place that bring TJ back to Milena and now he must keep her safe from a madman and his crazy son.
Even though this story deals with some pretty disgusting issues, Ms. Stoker did an excellent job describing things in a way that made it clear what was happening without going into too many gross details! Actually, most of the story was spent on the relationship redeveloping between TJ and Milena. But there IS an element of suspense threading through the background, just enough to keep me turning the pages.
Despite all the ugliness being revealed and the hardships of the past three years, Milena struck me as being an incredibly strong, resilient, happy woman. TJ had a lot of obstacles to overcome but his ability to pull himself out of his past was swoon worthy! And so were his alpha tendencies! He was one of those rarities…a man who was protective and possessive yet emotionally vulnerable.
Overall, this was a sweet and sexy second chance thriller with great characters. Now I’ll have to go back and start at the beginning because I’m intrigued by the secondary characters that were the main characters in the first nine books!! Told from various POVS with a happy ending for Milena and TJ but a lead up to several more stories! I received, read and voluntarily reviewed an ARC of this book.
EXCERPT:
Milena bit her lip and stared at the FBI Agent. Sheâd thought he looked friendly enough when heâd first entered the room. He was good-looking and tall. She had a weakness for tall men. But at the moment, he looked ruthless. She had no doubt heâd do just as he saidâmake sure all the perverts who partook of Jeremiahâs immoral and hideous scheme would go to jail.
But waitâŠshe was also a part of it, even if indirectly. Was she going to be arrested too? Was that why sheâd been held for so long? âAm I going to jail?â
âShould you be?â
Milena stood on the other side of the room and stared at Cruz, honestly not sure how to respond. She opened her mouth to speak when a loud thump came from the mirror behind the agent.
Intellectually, Milena knew the mirror wasnât really a mirror, but a window where someone, or several people, watched from the other side, but sheâd blocked that out. After the bang on the window, she couldnât ignore the fact that there was, indeed, someone observing her interview.
Someone who wasnât happy about the turn in the conversation.
Another heavy thump sounded, and Milena jumped. Whoever was on the other side definitely wanted attention.
Surprisingly, Cruz smirked. Milena stared at him, totally confused.
âYouâre not going to jail,â he told her, standing. He walked over to her chair, still lying on its side on the floor, and righted it. He held the back and gestured to the seat. âCome. Sit back down. Iâll explain whatâs going to happen next and answer any other questions that you have.â
Warily, Milena inched toward the chair and sat at the very edge. Without commenting, Cruz walked back around the table and sat down. âItâs obvious you had no idea what was going on at the school. Not only that, you donât exactly meet the criteria to be an insider.â
âThe criteria?â
âYouâre female, for one thing, so you obviously arenât a customer of Jeremiahâs and his stable of girls,â Cruz told her.
Milena swallowed hard at hearing the poor abused children being described as belonging to a âstable.â It was appropriate though, as theyâd been treated like animalsâŠwith no feelings or rights for as long as theyâd resided at the school.
âAnd, Iâm not trying to be rude, but youâre simply too old for Jeremiahâs tastes. Youâre whatâŠtwenty-six?â
âSeven,â she told him.
âRight, you and Sadie are of no interest to Jeremiah. The school has been under investigation for quite a while, and what youâve said you did there matches up with the records we confiscated from Jeremiahâs office.â
âI saw some of the men who came at night,â Milena said shakily. âDo I need to be worried about that?â
Cruz immediately shook his head. âI doubt it. They have enough to worry about. You werenât blackmailing them, and theyâre going to be more than aware that the evidence against them isnât based on anything you saw. The videos, pictures, and bank records are going to do them in without any eyewitness testimony from you.â
âAnd the children? Whatâs going to happen to them?â
For the first time since the interview had started, Milena saw true anger on the agentâs face.
