Hey y’all! It’s been awhile since I’ve posted any of my “retro” favorites. Sorry about that, you know how life tends to get sidetracked!! But I’m here with yet ANOTHER fabulous book (or I should say books) by Kristen Ashley! Ms. Ashley is the author of over 50 books and I’ve read all but 12 of them. Almost all of her books are on my READ AGAIN E-SHELF! There’s a great list over at Geybie’s Book Blog with the reading order of all of KA’s books. Check it out!
Today’s RETRO FAVE is Kristen Ashley’s, THE THREE SERIES BOX SET!
The Three Series is the collection of three novels that feature vampires, werewolves, hybrids who find their life mates at the same time the they have to fight to save their world…and ours.
Until the Sun Falls From the Sky – Leah Buchanan’s family has been in service to vampires for centuries. Even so, Leah wants nothing to do with her family’s legacy. But when she’s summoned by The Vampire Dominion, she has to go. Lucien has been living under the strict edicts of The Dominion for centuries but he’s tired of these ancient laws stripping away everything that is the essence of the vampire. So he’s taking it back.
With Everything I Am – Callum is King of the Werewolves and he has war on his hands. He’s forced to claim his mate, Sonia, and integrate her into a world that is strange and frightening. As Sonia attempts to adjust, Callum attempts to cope with the knowledge that his mate is mortal. He will have her beauty only the length of a mortal life making their union unbearably bitter even as Sonia makes it unbelievably sweet.
Wild and Free – Abel Jin and Delilah Johnson have lived their lives with a hole in their soul, yearning for something they don’t understand. Until one night Delilah is in danger and a man who’s otherworldly strong and supernaturally fast saves her. Delilah is cast into a world where fiction comes to life in the form of Abel, her destined mate, a vampire/werewolf hybrid who claims her at first breath as his.
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

I’ve read over FORTY (yes 40!) books from author Kristen Ashley but I was still hesitant to read a paranormal from her, I guess because I’m so used to reading her more contemporary books. BUT…I am thrilled that I finally decided to read this series! Not only does this story have KA’s particular brand of sassy and sexy, it takes place in a world with freakin’ HAWT VAMPIRES!! I loved how easy it was to jump right into this mystical world.
If you’ve read KA before, you’ll be familiar with the alpha-ness that is Lucian. Though, he was tougher for me to like since he was such a big jerk half of the time! Don’t get me wrong, Lucian was sexy as hell but he acted so entitled! Of course, he definitely grew on me as the story progressed and we get to understand more of his background. Leah was his perfect partner…snarky, strong, funny. She was EXACTLY what Lucian needed. There’s a lot of push and pull between these two but once they get on the same page, their chemistry is CRAZY!

Callum is probably one if my most favorite of KA’s heroes. He was sigh worthy, sexy, strong, protective…a total bad ass! I actually felt almost sorry for poor Sonia. It seems she spent her whole life being manipulated even though it was for her own safety. But she was the soft that Callum needed to smooth out his rough parts and I loved watching them come together!
There’s a more suspenseful feel to this book as more is being revealed about the prophecy. The twists and turns had me turning page after page. But, WOW, the last few chapters is why I adored this book! I cried and then swooned and was in awe of where the story took me. This is why this series will be on my READ AGAIN E-SHELF!

Abel, like all of Kristen Ashley’s alphas, was possessive, sexy, a he-man to the tenth degree! So, of course, his mate needed to be tough as nails and Lilah was. They complimented and completed each other. But it was a little hard really connecting with these two. The romance between Abel and Lilah felt a little lost, watered down and rushed. I know this was necessary so that we could get to the ultimate battle but I still wanted MORE for them!
Overall, I’d give the entire series 4.5 stars. I was CRAZY for the story line and I loved the positive vibe in the end! Told from multiple POVs with an almost sticky sweet happy ever after.
Kristen grew up in Brownsburg, Indiana but has lived in Denver, Colorado and the West Country of England. Thus she has been blessed to have friends and family around the globe. Her posse is loopy (to say the least) but loopy is good when you want to write.
Kristen was raised in a house with a large and multi-generational family. They lived on a very small farm in a small town in the heartland and existed amongst the strains of Glenn Miller, The Everly Brothers, REO Speedwagon and Whitesnake (and the wardrobes that matched).
Needless to say, growing up in a house full of music, clothes and love was a good way to grow up.
And as she keeps growing up, it keeps getting better.
