📚COYER (Clean Out Your E-Reader) Summer Reading Challenge! My 5 STAR Review of SUGAR & GOLD by Emma Scott📚

This is my first attempt at the COYER Challenge (Clean Out Your E-Reader) that Lexxie @ (un)Conventional Bookviews just introduced me to! Basically, the challenge is to read and review as many books as possible from my TBR. There’s two ways to do this. First, the NO RULES, READ ALL YOU CAN challenge. Second, a SUMMER READING LIST challenge of thirty books. Click on the link to take you to the official sign-up post over at the COYER web-site where a complete list of rules and links can be found.

I’ll be doing the NO RULES, READ ALL YOU CAN challenge and I’ll post my progress throughout the summer. This should be FUN!😁

Thanks to this year’s hostesses: Michelle @ Because Reading is Better than Real Life, Stormi @ Books, Movies, Reviews! Oh My! and Berls @ Fantasy is More Fun.

{P.S. Unfortunately, I’ve failed this challenge TERRIBLY, I think I’ve only managed to cross four books off my list of twenty. But that’s ok! I had fun reading these books and doing my first challenge!😜}

Sugar & Gold (Dreamcatcher, #2)Sugar & Gold by Emma Scott

My rating: 5 of 5 stars

SUGAR & GOLD is the second book in the Dreamcatcher series but can be read as a complete standalone (I didn’t even realize this was book two!) and my first book by author (genius) Emma Scott. I’d heard so many great things about this book, I was almost afraid it wouldn’t live up to the hype but a couple of pages in, I knew that I would ADORE this story! This is labeled as a New Adult paranormal romance but it’s SO. MUCH. MORE. This is a beautiful story about compassion and heartache, love and loss, acceptance and rejection. Nikolai has a “gift” that keeps him perpetually alone and desolate until he meets Fiona. He is sorrow and sadness. Fiona is running from a bad situation but she still radiates hope and courage and like a moth to a flame, Nik is drawn to her light. Nik and Fiona need each other and their connection is instant. Everything about this tale just resonated with me. The characters felt REAL, tangible, believable…like I could be their friend (even with Nikolai’s special ability). It made me experience a whole spectrum of emotions from disbelief, sympathy and despair to warmth, amazement and hope. This is absolutely one for my READ AGAIN E-SHELF. Told from dual POVs with an awe inspiring ending. I received, read and voluntarily reviewed an ARC of this book.
