My rating: 5 of 5 stars
Piper Rayne is such a fun and bold duo of authors! There’s so much in this book that I ABSOLUTELY loved. There’s the older man/younger woman trope plus the whole “Single Dad’s Club” that the heroes of this funny and smart series are a part of. Marcus is a hot, single dad to an adorable five year old, Lily. It was swoon worthy how Marcus was so completely devoted to and protective of his daughter. He’s the perfect mix of sexy and sweet, a possessive caveman AND a loving, devoted father. Caterina (great name BTW!) is feisty, confident, upbeat and sometimes pushy, just who Marcus needs. Cat is younger than Marcus and the daughter of a longtime client but their attraction is too powerful to resist for long! The story is filled with witty banter, scorching, racy scenes and just a touch of drama. Told from dual POVs with a happy ending. I received, read and voluntarily reviewed an ARC of this book.

EXCERPT
There are at least ten camp counselors currently standing in the water watching the children, and six of them are female. Victor doesnât understand the epidemic heâs going to have on his hands. The longer I sit there, the more dads find their way down to the lake, thinking itâs an everyday Thursday pickup. To their surprise, itâs a teenage boyâs wet dream. And maybe that teenage boyâs dadâs, too.
Caterina is laughing with another female counselor. I never noticed how her cheeks rise into two small apples when she smiles. Nor did I notice the way her hands cover her mouth to stifle a laugh or how she briefly touches the other personâs arm when sheâs amused. Damn, I want to pull that reaction out of her.
But all Iâve gotten this week since camp started is a few polite smiles and âhello Mr. Kent.â She hasnât acted as though Iâve seen more of her than what that bikini sheâs wearing reveals.
âWhat did I miss?â Dane sits down next to me, trying to catch his breath.
âWhat the hell do you do all day that you canât be here on time?â
He glances over to me and then concentrates ahead of him. I canât blame him, we donât get views like this in Climax Cove very often.
âDoes Victor realize heâs giving every dad here beat off material for tonight?â Dane asks. A few of the dads milling about laugh, knowing itâs true.
A small ball of anger begins brewing in my center. The idea of these dickheads thinking about whatâs under the blue bikini hugging Catâs tits gets under my skin. That beat off material is for me and only me.
âAnd to answer your question, I had to go down to the county for some paperwork.â
Daneâs been doing some heavy renovations to Happy Daze the last few years, expanding and making it a more family-friendly bar and grill during the day.
âSorry, that sucks.â
Both of us continue our conversation as we pretend to watch our children. I can multitask though. My gaze veers to Lily to make sure sheâs not drowning, but sheâs taken swimming lessons since she was one, so I donât have to worry too much.
âWe can talk about that shit later.â Dane waves me off. âFuck, this is so not fair. How is my kid getting more action than Iâve seen this week?â He bites his fist, watching Toby and his friends pour a bucket of water over his camp counselorâs head. Her yellow bikini doesnât exactly hide the fact the water might have been slightly chilly.
Lily looks away from the action in the lake, finds me sitting there, and smiles. âWhy do I suddenly feel dirty?â I mumble to myself.
Lily runs from the lake and Caterina says something to one of the other counselors and follows Lilyâs path. Our eyes lock, but Cat is quick to shift her focus elsewhere.
âDaddy!â Lily screams and jumps into my arms, soaking me in the process.
âHi, sweetie.â I prop her on my knee.
âHi, Uncle Dane,â her sweet voice says.
I clear my throat so heâll turn his attention from the lake to my daughter. Dane turns to me, back to the lake, and then realizes why Iâm clearing my throat.
âHey, kiddo. Swim day, huh?â He leans back on his hands, focusing his attention on her.
âCome.â She jumps down from my lap and grabs my hand.
âNo, sweetie. Iâll wait until youâre done. Go have fun with your friends.â
She smiles and runs off.
âDamn, a little warning, huh? Iâm practically tucking my dick between my legs,â Dane says and shifts in his seat.
âUm, how do you think I feel?â
âWhoâs the dickhead?â Dane asks, head nodding to the lake.
One of the male camp counselors approaches Cat. She laughs at his joke and shakes her head. I donât miss the way his eyes light up when she puts her hand on his forearm.
âWho?â I pretend my heart isnât skipping beats from the adrenaline coursing through my system. Just call me a fucking caveman.
âYeah, okay. Your eyes have been glued to one counselor, in particular, this whole week.â
âI have no idea what youâre talking about.â I glance around to make sure no other parents overheard us.
âIs that how youâre gonna play it?â he asks, turning toward me and raising his eyebrows in question.
I say nothing, watching the dickhead pick up Caterina by the waist, her squealing and him dropping her in the deeper part of the lake. She stands up and now sheâs dripping wet in her blue bikini that probably matches the color of my balls.
Once again, I swear her gaze veers over to me as she pushes her hands through her drenched hair. Before I can be certain, sheâs concentrating on the kids again. She claps her hands and announces swim time is over for her group.
âMan, your chick is a fun sponge,â Dane says because Tobyâs camp counselor is still in a water battle with her kids.
I push off the picnic table to head over to pick up Lily and gather her things.

Red FlagsâŚ
Too loud.
Too clingy.
Too much make-up.
I could go on and on. The other guys in the Single Dadâs Club would say Iâm obsessed with finding them. But none of their kidâs mothers call a maximum-security prison home either, so their opinions mean shit.
Caterina Santora has her own list of red flagsâŚ
Sheâs too young.
Sheâs my clientâs daughter.
Sheâs my five-year oldâs camp counselor.
Even after repeating this mantra to myself every morning on the way to Lilyâs summer camp, guess what happens the moment I see Cat? Yeah, that mantra turns into ride me, doggie style and reverse cowgirl.
Every. Damn. Time.
The fact that she doesnât remember me from six years before grates on me until I donât have it in me to leave her alone any longer. I have to have her. But our lives are opposites in every way. In no way compatible.
When weâre together all the complications fade away and I have to keep reminding myself, even if I can have herâ I canât keep her.
