What can I say about this book except…OMGEE! Every once in awhile I’ll come across a book that makes me cry like a baby, ugly, ugly cry. Yes, this is one of those books! It is a love story but it’s SOOO much more than that. It’s a story of redemption, the pursuit of love, happiness, forgiveness, acceptance and hope. Christopher is a very negative jerk. Maybe rightfully so. Jillian’s contented attitude towards life is what allows her to push through all of the ugliness in Christopher’s head to his softly beating heart. Along with Barb, the Goth Chick and Conner, the Dead Kid, the journey to find happiness is extremely painful. This is a book that will stay with me long after the last page is read. When you pick up this book, remember that you have to go through the darkness to find the light (cliche, I know but totally worth it!). Christopher, Jillian, Connor and Barb’s story is awe-inspiring and beautifully ugly…thank you, Sawyer Bennett! Told from Christopher’s POV with a sad but happy ending (you’ll have to read it to understand that!). I received, read and voluntarily reviewed an ARC of this book.
